February Sunday Social

Every month, in addition to Widowed Friends weekly events, a “meet and greet” get together is held one Sunday a month. These are special occasions for the group, based on the original premise of the community that weekends can be lonely times for widowed people.

Meeting up at a members condo clubhouse is a great venue for the group as it is a large facility with kitchen, deck and lots of parking – ideal for mingling and sharing a casual buffet.

The February event drew about 60 people for an afternoon of conversation and fun.  Here are some pics from the event. Thanks to Liesel and Barb for arranging the rental of their clubhouse space for us and for all the volunteers who helped out in set up and take down. Congrats to Faye for winning the door prize!

If you are a widow or widower and would like to join us, please email widowedfriendsltd@gmail.com for more information.

  1. Hi,my wife passed away September 19,2019.I would like to start to socialize, but I don’t know if I’m ready or prepared yet.I would like to hear how other people are living alone.Myself,I tried to prepare myself, but now see that was a very futile,if not foolish thing to do.I look forward to hearing from you. 1. Hi Robert, Thanks for getting in touch. We recommend that people attend grief counselling as a first step on the journey after loss. Perhaps you could discuss with your doctor or check in your community for grief counselling services. We wish you all the best as you work your way through this process.
